Position Overview
The Admissions Registered Nurse (RN) uses their knowledge in pain and symptom management and the end-of-life to educate patients, families, and referral sources about hospice. The Admissions Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for working with physicians to discern hospice eligibility and complete an initial assessment for those patients who meet criteria. The Admissions Registered Nurse (RN) actively participates in coordination of all aspects of a patient’s care, including collaboration with referral sources to ensure seamless continuity of care.

Experience and Skills

Requirements for Admissions Registered Nurse (RN) positions

  • Associate Degree in Nursing; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Illinois
  • Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse preferred
  • Minimum of 1-year clinical experience, preferably in an acute care, home health, or hospice setting
  • Ability to demonstrate sound clinical judgement with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and maintain a calming, professional presence in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to maintain organizational confidentiality, which includes but is not limited to information about patients/families, volunteers, employees, donors, and Agency processes
  • Communication skills, verbal and written
  • Computer skills (Word, Excel, patient database, e-mail), voicemail
  • Knowledge of federal and state healthcare regulations, preferred
