Job Description:

The Staff Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager and will prepare financial analysis and reports, perform month-end close activities, and reconcile general ledger accounts.

The Staff Accountant position will be located in our Glenview, Illinois office.

  • Ensures financial records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and the organization’s policies and procedures
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information, prepares and posts journal entries into the general ledger
  • Prepares balance sheet account reconciliations monthly and clears any reconciling items on a timely basis
  • Acts as point of contact and relationship manager for key vendors and partners
  • Prepares financial analysis and gathers and reports on key statistics or metrics. Analyzes operating results, investigates and explains variances
  • Safeguards the assets of the organization through the identification and maintenance of effective internal controls over disbursement processes
  • Prepares requested documentation for annual external audits and responds to questions
  • Recommends and implements continuous process improvements related to disbursement processes and internal controls
  • Leverages knowledge of financial systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness of processes. Identifies, recommends and implements new technology solutions to increase efficiency

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Accounting
  • CPA preferred
  • 2-5 years’ experience in financial accounting
  • Healthcare industry experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; advanced level experience with Excel
  • Accounting software package experience required; experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP a plus
  • Ability to demonstrate exceptional theoretical and practical knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and best practices
  • Ability to solve complex problems
  • Ability to think creatively and develop recommendations to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of processes
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, auditors and other third parties
  • Ability to be flexible and effectively manage priorities and multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain organizational confidentiality
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
