Job Description:

The Strategy Analyst plays a critical role in developing and executing JourneyCare’s strategy by analyzing complex healthcare data and developing actionable insights to inform the agency’s strategic direction. The individual in this role will also help define, collect and analyze performance data on new programs and payment models and research/monitor issues and trends in the healthcare industry. This individual also plays an active role in the strategic planning process.

This position will report to the Vice President of Strategy and the position will be located out of our corporate Glenview, Illinois office with travel associated to our other office in Barrington and Chicago on an as needed basis.

  • Analyze, model and assess benefits and risks of strategic opportunities considering multiple stakeholder perspectives including JourneyCare, payors, providers and patients
  • Analyze population health, medical record and health claims data and translate into actionable insights to inform strategic decision making
  • Develop business cases on potential strategy options, initiatives and strategic alliances
  • Research and assess new/innovative healthcare programs
  • Monitor and/or research key trends and issues in the healthcare industry and assess impact on JourneyCare
  • Prepare reports and presentations, framing key issues and summarizing results of research and analysis
  • Work with Finance to develop standard approach and template to model strategy options
  • Work with Business Intelligence Team to develop standard data sets and performance dashboards to evaluate outcomes from strategic alliances and new programs
  • Assists VP President in facilitating and managing the strategic planning process
  • Adheres to the practice of confidentiality regarding patients, families, staff and the organization
  • Understands that he/she may be exposed to Protected Health Information (PHI), and ensures that he/she treats PHI according to human resources’ policies and procedures

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, Business, Economics or related field
  • 5 years’ experience in a strategic planning, population health or healthcare decision support analyst role
  • Experience in healthcare, particularly hospice and/or medical group practices, helpful
  • Advance analytical skills with ability to summarize/synthesize large amounts of data into meaningful insights
  • Strong critical thinking skills and high-level of intellectual curiosity
  • An eye for detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, uncertainty and changing work priorities
  • Strength in using Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with others across the agency at all levels, including the ability to explain complex concepts
  • Ability to balance multiple projects at the same time - detail-minded, well-organized, and a self-starter
