Job Description:


Seeking Per Diem / Registry Certified Nursing Assistants for The BARRINGTON Area. 

  • Inpatient Center: Days/Nights/Weekends 12 hr shifts.  Field: Days/Weekends a.m.'s (8a - 3p).

The Per Diem Certified Nursing Assistant assists the registered nurse with caring for patients as needed. They assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) and personal hygiene for patients in the inpatient care unit. The certified nursing assistant also gives support to family members and caregivers and reports any changes in patient status to the registered nurse.

  • Assists patients with personal care such as bathing, washing hair, painting and cutting nails, shaving, oral care, and dressing
  • Assesses patient's skin condition, weight, measurements and pain scale and reports any changes or issues to the registered nurse.
  • Makes the patients bed and assists with transferring patients as needed.
  • Assists patients with eating meals.
  • Conducts safety checks in regards to patient's environment and plan of care (i.e. carpets, oxygen tanks, open flames and electrical wires.
  • Educates family members and caregivers regarding personal care.
  • Electronically Documents each patient visit and phone call.
  • Other duties may be assigned or required for the performance of this position.
  • Delivers supplies as part of the patient visit.











Experience and Skills:

High School general education degree or GED recognized by the Board of Educatiom

Training in HIPAA, Infection Control, safety, personal care and documentation

CNA certification in Illinois

Two or more years of CNA experience in nursing home/assisted living facility/hospital/

Experience working with terminally ill individuals, a plus.

Certain positions require Pediatric skill competencies on an infant, toddler, preschool, school age or adolescent.

Work Under the Direction of the RNs and other Clinical Leaders

Good interpersonal skills

Communication skills verbal and written

Experience using Hoyer lifts, gait belts, walkers, wheelchairs, canes, shower benches/chairs, electric beds and other medical equipment

Organization skills

Work in Team Environment

Able to use cell phone, computer skills, voice mail

Frequent bending, squatting, walking, standing

Frequently works under tight deadlines and with interruptions

Frequently working with confidential information

Frequently lifting and moving patients. May be required to lift up to 25-50 lbs frequently and move up to 200 lbs occasionally with the assistance of a gait belt or hoyer lift.

Possible exposure to communicable diseases

Frequently driving to complete patient visits
